Billie Eilish has apparently confirmed herself as the headliner of Glastonbury 2022.
The “Lost Cause” singer teased fans over the weekend by sharing a selfie of herself wearing a Glastonbury Festival hoodie to her Instagram Story with “Glastonbury Festival, Worthy Farm” emblazoned on it.
Billie then sparked major speculation that she would perform next year at the world-famous musical show in Somerset, South West England, with the caption: “2022”.
The “Bad Guy” singer recently confessed that she had “no idea” that Glastonbury was “even a thing” until she performed at the festival.
The 19-year-old superstar – who grew up in Los Angeles – performed at The Other Stage in 2019 and admitted she didn’t know how important it was to play the legendary festival when she got the invite.
She said: “I feel so embarrassed because I didn’t even know Glastonbury was a thing. I was like, ‘What is this?
“I didn’t know it was a big deal until I played it. Everyone was like ‘oh my god you played Glastonbury’ and I was like ‘yeah, so?
“And then I realized. I’m a little uneducated baby.
“It was such an honor, I mean come on. Man, the crowd was amazing. Those moshpits? Oh my gosh. The crowd was awesome.”
Glastonbury was canceled for a second year this summer, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
A statement posted via Glastonbury’s official Twitter page read: “With great regret we have to announce that this year’s Glastonbury Festival will not take place, and that it will be another year of forced fallow for us.
“Despite our efforts to move heaven and earth, it has become clear that we simply cannot make the festival happen this year. We are so sorry to let you down.
“Like last year, we would like to offer everyone who got a ticket in October 2019 the opportunity to defer their £ 50 deposit until next year and guarantee the possibility of purchasing a ticket for Glastonbury 2022.
“We are very grateful for the faith and trust placed in us by those of you who have deposits, and we are very confident that we can offer something really special for all of us in 2022!
“We thank you for the incredible continued support and look forward to better times to come.
“With love, Michael and Emily.”
Taylor Swift, Sir Paul McCartney and Kendrick Lamar were slated to headline the Pyramid Stage, while Diana Ross was announced for the Sunday Afternoon Legends slot.
Glastonbury is scheduled to return between June 22 and June 26, 2022.
Organizers Emily and Michael Eavis have yet to officially confirm any of the performers.
