Danish composer Carl Nielsen (about 1908)

Danish composer Carl Nielsen was born on this date in 1885. His 1922 Wind Quintet was positively received at its public premiere, performed often during his lifetime, played at his funeral (in 1931) and became a standard in the repertoire of wind quintets.
