Well, it’s been a hell of a year, hasn’t it? If there is one thing that made us experience all of this, it is the music. Since we returned to print in late 2020, we’ve launched a new monthly column called Music Now (online, you’ll find it as a monthly column on New Scottish Music) that celebrates exclusively Scottish releases, which means that we cry about exceptional Scottish music. now more than ever.
While it’s always exciting for us to collectively celebrate our favorite Scottish albums of the year via a poll with our music writers – check out our top ten 2021 here – letting us shout that a dozen records don’t appear enough when every month throughout the year we are bombarded with release after release. So much so, in fact, that quite often a lot still manages to fall through the cracks.
So we’re excited to be able to put together a whole bunch of songs in a Spotify playlist as a big end-of-year blast for your listening enjoyment; 2021 is actually the fifth time we’ve done this, too – pat on the back – so if you like what you hear in this year’s playlist why not search for the music from the past four years that we’ve been screaming about Also. Find The Skinny’s Spotify profile here.
Okay, without further ado, please see our 2021 Great Scots playlist below with tracks from each of our top ten albums of the year, from Hamish Hawk, Eliza Shaddad, Mogwai and TAAHLIAH as well as a hundred Continued. Thank you once again to all the music makers – you really are making a huge difference.
