And just like that, November is coming to an end and before we know it there will be no more holidays and then… 2022! Before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s pause and reflect on the past month before it’s time to flip the calendar. As colder temperatures and darker skies set in, we searched for anything that could brighten our days and add sparkle to our nights. This led to a deep dive into metals – from shimmering gold to luxurious silver, from cheeky brass to unassuming bronze – it would all add a layer of visual interest to our spaces. Metals can not only change the look of a space, they also adjust the feel by adding warmth through bronze and matte gold, or a touch of glamor using chrome or brass. Pair it with furniture and decor in bold or subtle textures and patterns, depending on where you fall between minimalism and maximalism, and your metallic elements will make any space shine. A modern Florida home with warm woods and metallic accents
We visited Florida to see a home designed by V Starr, the award-winning design firm founded by Venus Williams. The modern residence featured warm woods and metallic details that created an inviting home for family gatherings, relaxation, and fun. The kitchen was stunning with accented brass appliances and tiles, while the dining area featured a selection of solid brass and brass/matte black pendants interspersed with glass lights.
Tom Dixon seeks mass appeal in his latest furniture collection
When it comes to metals, British designer Tom Dixon always gets it right. Just recently, Dixon expanded its Mass collection to include four new solid brass pieces: an updated dining table, console, bookcase and coat rack. Super-polished solid brass takes everyday household archetypes and transforms them into massive, gold-finished sculptures.
